Day to Night Skin Care Routine

Woman with Flawless Glowing Skin

Whether you’re an early bird, night owl (or neither), follow these tips for glowing skin, just in time for spring.

Have you ever looked in the mirror only to face dry, red, flaky skin? Yikes! This situation happens to the best of us, especially after a long winter of cold, harsh days. Before you leave the house in the morning or settle in for your beauty sleep, you’ll need a dedicated routine to support your skin around the clock. Taking several steps each day to apply skincare products might feel excessive, but it’s totally worth it, especially when you’re organized! Avoid digging through bathroom drawers by keeping all your “go to” products neatly tucked inside Sorbus Beauty cosmetic organizers. You can separate products by day and night, or even keep them organized in the order of application! Now, follow these tips for vibrant, youthful skin that will make people wonder if you’re airbrushed or just naturally that flawless!

Radiate by Day

1. Wash: Wash your face with a gentle exfoliating cleanser. This works as a perfect two-in-one product that removes dirt and excess oil from your pores while scrubbing away dead skin cells. Since the skin on the face can be especially sensitive, try to choose a product with natural exfoliants. You can even make your own at home with sugar, salt, or oatmeal!

2. Moisturize: Properly moisturize your skin. There are plenty of different moisturizers out there for different skin types (oily, dry, or combination), so choose one that fits your personal needs. To avoid looking too oily during the day, try to choose a light moisturizer and apply a thin layer over your face, letting it soak in completely. Make sure to choose one with SPF before going out into the sun.

3. Mist: If you have extra dry skin, give your face a quick spray with a hydrating mist! Be sure you’re not just spraying yourself with expensive water - choose one that also includes hydrating botanical extracts or essential oils.

4. Prime: For an extra boost that will make your face a picture-perfect canvas, use a makeup primer before applying any makeup. Primers help to smooth wrinkles, reduce the look of larger pores, and help your makeup go on smoother and last longer.

Nourish by Night

1. Cleanse: After a long day out, your face is in desperate need of a good cleanse. Washing your face with a good quality cleansing oil will strip off all of the dirt and makeup of the day without stripping away your natural oils.

2. Tone: Toners are typically misunderstood and often make you think of those middle school days when they stripped virtually every bit of moisture from your face. Fortunately, they’ve come a long way since then and toners now help balance the pH of your skin, remove impurities from your pores and soothe the surface.

3. Apply Serum: Serums are often overlooked, but are a very important part of your nightly routine. They’re chock full of powerful antioxidants that help keep your skin safe from pollution and reduce signs of aging. Apply before moisturizing so that these nourishing ingredients are directly absorbed by the skin.

4. Moisturize: A thicker moisturizing cream is great to apply before going to sleep so that your face has time to soak in all of the nourishing properties. When you wake up, you’ll have perfectly moisturized skin!

5. Treat Blemishes: If you are prone to breakouts, use a blemish treatment where required. Plenty of options are available using either benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid.

Every type of product mentioned here has variations depending on your own personal needs, whether you have normal, oily, dry, sensitive, or combination skin. If you’re in a rush, the most important things to remember are cleanse and moisturize. And never, ever go to bed with makeup on! By following a proper skincare routine, before you know it you’ll have beautiful, radiant, baby-soft skin.
